Tzunami Deployer for Documentum® enables migrating Documentum to SharePoint products and technologies, e.g Documentum to Office 365 migration. Export data from Documentum

First part of the Documentum to Office 365 migration & Documentum to SharePoint migration process is to extract the content using Tzunami Documentum Exporter. When working with Tzunami Deployer on several machines, you can run an export on one machine and load the exported data on another. Tzunami Documentum Content Server Exporter is distributed as an external tool from Tzunami Deployer.

The exporter automatically creates four default roles that are used during the deployment process. The roles include Reader (Browse and Read permissions), Contributor (Browse, Read, Relate and Note permissions), Web Designer (Browse, Read, Relate, Note, Version, Write and Delete permissions), and Administrator (user has full permissions). You can add custom filter properties in the Tzunami Documentum Exporter using Tzunami Documentum Exporter configuration file.

Tzunami Deployer for Documentum allows users to export the following types of objects from the Documentum Content server:

  • Folders
  • Documents (including custom types)
  • Virtual documents

Reliable migration of documents from your old ECMS to SharePoint 2013, SharePoint Online / Office 365. As part of the export process, Tzunami Deployer for Documentum exports users and groups, as well as the following permissions:

Each item is assigned an ACL defining the permissions of the various members according to the roles they were assigned.

Using Tzunami Deployer’s security mappings, users can perform the migration of users, groups (and groups membership) and permissions even across Active Directory domains.

On top of the basic metadata, Tzunami Deployer for Documentum enables the migration of additional attributes added to custom types. Using Tzunami Deployer, you can easily migrating your Documentum environment to SharePoint products and technologies.

Documentum features a Virtual Document capability, allowing users to group multiple documents together, and manage them as a single document. Since SharePoint does not provide a similar behavior, Virtual Documents are converted to folders during the export process.

Using Tzunami Deployer’s remodeling feature, these folders can be migrated as any structure type in SharePoint, starting from a simple folder in a list, up to a Site Collection. For more details see Tzunami Deployer’s features.

Tzunami Exporter for Documentum provides ability to run export sessions non-interactively using command line instructions. This allows administrators to plan and schedule long running migration jobs through scripts, batch files and schedulers according to needs and organizational timetables. To run the exporter in batch mode you will need exporter specification file explained in the ‘Choose Destination Folder’ step of the export wizard. The file contains all the export option details including:

  • Source ECM connectivity information (Server Address, User Name, Password etc.)
  • Items to export
  • Destination and Log Folder
  • Filter
  • Exporter specific options

This file can be edited to suit your needs however the XML schema of the file should not be altered. It is recommended that you generate a sample specifications file in the Destination Folder Screen selection step of the export wizard and use it as a template to create your own specification file.

Based on your needs you can create number of specification files and use them to run multiple export sessions as batch commands. In Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 environment, if USG (Universal Security Group) is enabled, Users with low privileges sometimes cannot export ECM contents. To export contents using command line, User must run with elevated or administrative privileges.
